About us

We work tirelessly to discover the very best opportunities available to our clients so they can use their wealth to live the life they want.

I founded Saulsbury Independent Financial Planning to provide a service that’s friendly and personable. We’re not part of a big corporate business that treats people as a number; we recognise that everyone has their own story, their own journey and their own aspirations to fulfil and that this requires a personal strategy, not something off-the-shelf.

We combine this personal touch with the best in digital because we also appreciate the efficiencies that modern life brings. We’ll work with you in whichever way suits you best - working remotely via Zoom, Skype or Microsoft Teams - and reducing paper and post where we can.

We’re professional but relaxed - you won’t find us in formal business attire, but we’re fully qualified (you can find us on the FCA Register here).

From start to finish, our absolute priority is ensuring your success. We’ve worked this way with many clients successfully throughout the years and we’d love to work with you in this way too.

Our mission

To help people with life’s transitions while reassuring them that they don’t need to worry about money.

James Saulsbury

Founder & Director

For more than 10 years, I’ve been helping individuals, families and businesses plan their financial future by giving them pragmatic and tailored advice to suit their specific needs.

Having developed a diverse portfolio of clients from different backgrounds, and located across the UK, I’ve learned that it’s the one-to-one nature of working with them that I enjoy the most.

I believe in creating a life you love, which is partly why I moved from Buckinghamshire seven years ago to the North Cornish coastline. This leap of faith has paid off because every day I get to do what I love most - helping people reach their full potential through bespoke financial planning - from the beautiful Cornish coastline.

Outside of work, my spare time tends to revolve around my family. I try to give back to the local community by coaching two junior football teams, which at times has proven to be just as demanding as financial planning! I also support a local forces charity by providing pro-bono guidance for forces personnel and veterans through the PFS Forces Money Plan.

Administrator

I support James and the business on a day-to-day basis running the administration for our clients. I’ve worked as a Personal Assistant and Project Co-ordinator for the past 20 years answering phones, planning meetings and generally being clients’ first port of call.

Like James, I relocated to Cornwall some years ago to achieve a better work/life balance.

In my free time, I can be found exploring the Cornish coast with my dog and enjoying the beaches with my family.

Jeremy Squibb

Chartered Financial Planner

For over 20 years I’ve been helping people transition, guiding them to understand the most important things in their lives, then building a financial plan to fulfil those priorities. Having worked across the financial spectrum from a UK bank, a nationwide financial planning firm, my focus is now firmly in my native Cornwall working alongside James at Saulsbury Financial Planning.

From 2012, I studied under George Kinder – the father of the Financial Life Planning movement, whose approach focuses on living a meaningful life, free of regret – which is what I like to think is the true purpose of financial planning.

Much of my work is with people who are at a crossroads in their lives – either through circumstances beyond their control, or when they have reached a point where they know change is necessary – escaping the bucket of expectation. This includes guiding small business owners to find the balance between business and life – no easy feat as they endeavour to juggle time and money.

Away from the office, music forms the backbone of family life, and we can often be seen playing with Porthleven Town Band outside the Harbour Inn on a Sunday evening in the summer. Sporting activities focus on coaching Helston U12’s girls football team – The Dolphins, which brings a unique blend of challenge and joy.
